The presentation of the first draft of the report reviewing the investment policy of Cape Verde conducted by the United nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), was held in the city of Praia, Sal and São Vicente, on 23, 24 and 25 April Respectively.
"This mission to our agency is part of a request for assistance requested by its former CIA the prime Minister of Cape Verde to the resident Coordinator of the United Nations systems in this country, Dr. Ulrika, for the elaboration of an investment policy review of Cape Verde or review of the investment policy of Cape Verde, referred to the President of Cape Verde TradeInvest, Ana Lima Barber, at the time of opening of the event that took place in the city of the beach, the 23rd of April, in the conference room of the government Palace, in the meadow.
"All this activity has a key role in the development and implementation of Cape Verde TradeInvest's mission, with regard to the creation of more and better opportunities for national investment, facilitation of investment, dissemination and promotion of the image of the country and support in the improvement of the business environment, "he also reinforced.
The presentation was carried out by experts Massimo Meloni, economic affairs Officer and Investment policy evaluations, and Ariel Ivanier, economic affairs officer.
"To date, we have completed the work of reviewing investment policy in over 50 economies worldwide. Our analysis is based on the investment policy framework for the sustainable development of UNCTAD. This framework provides fundamental principles and policy guidelines on the development of investment policies. Our diagnostic analysis is usually accompanied by an intergovernmental discussion organised in Geneva. For this occasion, a high-level delegation from the Government of Cape Verde will be invited to present their investment policy plans to other United Nations Member States with the objective of exchanging opinions on best practices, "said Massimo Marchand.
This is the third Cape Verde mission of the team being precededed by the project presentation Workshop in July 2017 and meetings with the stakeholders in December of the same year.
The event should be preceded by the revision of the report by the Government and the implementation and technical assistance, aiming at future monitoring and actions.
In the salt, the event took place at the Hotel Oasis Belorizonte and in São Vicente in the Chamber of Commerce of Windward/College Business (BAC/AE).
In the three meetings were present entities as national direction of revenue of the State and other public entities, the banking sector and various institutions of the business sector, besides diplomatic representations.
